What does L&J stand for?
Lindsey & Justin! Together we make up the L&J grooming company. We have been together since 2015. We enjoy spending time together and balance each other out which makes us great business partners!

Is there public parking available?
Our driveway is your driveway. Parking on our street can be tight at times, we apologize in advance for this. However, we do our best to make this process as easy for you as it is for your pet!

Can I see where my pet will be groomed?
Absolutely! We would love for you to see the hard work we have put into our space and where your pet will be spending their time with us.

Can I stay and wait for my pet to be finished?
Our salon operates on a drop-off and pick-up system. We recommend grabbing a bite to eat, hanging out locally, or heading back home. We will call you 20 minutes ahead of time!

How long will my pet be there?
We kindly ask that you allow us 1-3 hours to work on your pet. However, sometimes this time can be a little sooner or run a little over. We try our very best to work at your pet's pace and keep their mental and physical health in mind.

What shampoo will my pet be washed in?
We base our shampoo and conditioner used on each pet on their skin and coat condition. If there is a shampoo you use for your pet for medical or personal reasons, feel free to bring it along. If you have questions or concerns about a shampoo or product used on your pet, please don't hesitate to ask!

What is an NCMG?
NCMG stands for National Certified Master Groomer with the National Dog Groomers Association of America. Extensive testing, practical and written exams, are required for this certification. Lindsey received her NCMG title in 2021 by testing on an English Cocker Spaniel, Scottish Terrier, Standard Poodle, and Airedale Terrier.

What is competitive grooming?
Competitive grooming consists of a skill-based tiered system. In most contests, groomers bring a dog or cat to the ring already washed and prepped for grooming. They are timed and judged based on the standards for each category by world-renowned judges against peers of their skill level. A winner is judged in each skill level and an overall winner is chosen. Lindsey has competed and placed in multiple grooming competitions across the country and enjoys being challenged by her peers and friends.

What is AKC Conformation?
AKC stands for the American Kennel Club. The AKC is responsible for hosting a large variety of dog sports with a focus on the dog's abilities over the person's abilities. Conformation competitions focus on how a dog is put together structurally to perform the specific job they were bred for. Breed experts will judge the movement and feel the body of the dog, comparing them to the other dogs in the ring. Points are earned based on the number of dogs in the competition, earning titles in a tier-based system.

Why is four weeks the recommended grooming for my pet?
Four weeks is a long time to go without a shower or bath, don't you think? Regular grooming for your pet is beneficial in many ways, physically and mentally. Your pets' nails will become shorter over time, and regularly maintaining your pets' ears reduces excessive ear wax, infections, and mites. We recommend brushing your pets' teeth daily, however, we are also realistic and know at least once a month is better than twice a year!

Seasons often affect your pets' coats and skin in unpredictable ways, but four-week appointments allow us to help manage any dryness and shedding. We can check your pet for any irregular behavior, ticks, fleas, and new lumps or bumps you may have missed. Often we find things on your pet you may have never noticed but are critical to identify for your pet's health.

Grooming can be scary for a lot of pets who are new to the process. We get it. That's why we want to build a relationship with your pet. The best way for that to happen is for us to spend time together and get to know each other. Regular grooming reduces the stress and anxiety that pets associate with the groomers. We want them to feel at home with us.

I tried to call and no one answered, when will I receive a callback?
We are so sorry we missed your call! We value you a lot and love talking to you but please allow us some patience as we are a small operation and our environment can be loud. We recommend calling back if it's urgent or sending us a message. We try our best to respond within 24 hours.
